Caregiver / Home Care Aide (HCA)

Position Summary

Helping Hands by FeniCare is seeking dependable, compassionate Caregivers and Home Care Aides to provide non-medical in-home support to clients throughout California’s Central Valley. Caregivers work directly with clients in their homes to promote safety, independence, comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

Assignments vary based on each client’s individualized care plan and may include companionship, personal care, activities of daily living, household assistance, transportation, mobility support, and other non-medical services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Caregiver responsibilities may include:

• Providing companionship, conversation, supervision, and emotional support

• Assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene

• Assisting with walking, mobility, transfers, positioning, and fall-prevention measures

• Preparing meals and assisting with eating or hydration as appropriate

• Providing medication reminders within the caregiver’s permitted scope

• Performing light housekeeping, laundry, and household organization

• Assisting with grocery shopping, errands, appointments, and transportation

• Supporting clients with established daily routines and activities

• Observing and promptly reporting changes in a client’s condition, behavior, environment, or needs

• Accurately documenting services provided and completing required electronic visit verification and care notes

• Following the client’s Plan of Care and all company policies and procedures

• Maintaining client confidentiality, dignity, boundaries, and professional conduct

• Immediately reporting safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, incidents, injuries, or emergencies in accordance with company policy and applicable law

• Performing other non-medical caregiving duties consistent with the client’s Plan of Care and the caregiver’s permitted scope of practice

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Possess or obtain current California Home Care Aide registration as required

• Successfully complete required criminal background clearance and Live Scan fingerprinting

• Meet applicable tuberculosis screening/clearance requirements

• Have reliable transportation

• Possess a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance when driving is required for an assignment

• Be able to communicate effectively with clients, families, coworkers, and company leadership

• Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, compassion, and sound judgment

• Be able to use a smartphone or mobile device for scheduling, communication, documentation, and electronic visit verification

Previous professional or personal caregiving experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position may require the caregiver to:

• Stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, kneel, and move for extended periods

• Assist clients with mobility and transfers

• Push or pull wheelchairs and other mobility-related equipment

• Navigate stairs, uneven surfaces, and residential environments

• Lift, move, or assist with weights of up to approximately 50 pounds when required by the assignment

This position pays $18.00–$21.00 per hour, depending on applicable experience, qualifications, assignment requirements, and other lawful job-related factors.

Supervision & Reporting

Caregivers work independently in clients’ homes while operating under the direction of Helping Hands by FeniCare’s Care Coordination and Administrative team. Caregivers are responsible for following the assigned Plan of Care, reporting client concerns or changes promptly, maintaining required documentation, and complying with company policies and applicable regulations.

Caregivers do not independently change a client’s Plan of Care or provide medical services outside the permitted scope of non-medical home care.
